Residence Program
A major obstacle to self-sufficiency among the homeless is inadequate housing. The Homeless Veterans Fellowship provides a Transitional Housing Program designed which is designed to temporarily stabilize the housing needs of veterans, both single and with families. Facilities:
Entry into the residency Program: Entry into the residency program begins with an initial assessment. During this process, the applicant completes a questionnaire providing information that ranges from date of birth to the individual concerns of the applicant. The applicant then, by appointment, speaks with the HVF counselors and employment development specialist, and then executive director of the HVF. Following the interviews, the persons mentioned above meet and make a decision regarding the appropriateness of admitting the applicant to the program. Once a decision is made, the applicant if offered entry into the program provided that he/she is willing to sign a contract and abide by the HVF's residency rules. Residents treat the facilities as if they owned them. Together, they maintain the outside appearance as well as the inside living conditions of their homes. When work around the facility is required and is within the capabilities of the occupants, they plan the required tasks and share in their completion. For some this serves as training for when they leave the program as independent members of the community either as renters or property owners. Thank you for your interest in Homeless Veterans Fellowship and your concern for our veteran participants. |
